Sound Painting

"Sound Painting" is an experimental project. It is an investigation on light color and sound. To develop this work I made a chart that relates the frequencies of sound (Hz) with the frequencies of light color (wavefrequency THz). Thanks to the "piezo" microphones taped to the back side of the canvas, I was able to record the vibrations of each painting tool by scrubbing them against the canvas. Once they were measured and written I could see which color corresponded to each sound based on the notes of a piano. For instance, if we choose the brush tool on the graph, you can see it makes 85Hz of noise. When we check the diagram we can find 85Hz in the first third of the piano notes. It coincides with the color orange (in the abstract).
The concept behind this work is based on this principle: how light color can be associated to the noise we make when painting.
